Ran Qiquan

Ran Qiquan was born in Dazhou and graduated from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1989. Ran Qiquan has always emphasized that the technique of constructing beautiful works of art is not the essence, and a good work should show the feelings and thoughts the artist puts into it. In the process of creation, he constantly tries to create new works with strong color tension and emotional expression. After recombining, stacking, and squeezing the paper thickness, his works present a brand-new artistic texture.

As Youth Critic Deng Xu said, Ran Qiquan's works are divided into two stages: the first stage, by the paper as the carrier, fire as a destructing tool, he brings material with special value, like traditional paper, newspapers, books, to the fire to damage, gradually negating the image. In the second stage, after the rebirth of paper from fire, paper and fire become the re-construction carriers, forming a brand new artistic texture, and then delivering a brand new concept and philosophical perception. Ran Qiquan's works are not only his exploration of paper art and technology, but more importantly, his utilization of carbonized techniques with his own understanding and reflection on his life experiences.

"Each piece of artwork showcases the surging emotions within me and reflects the changes in my creative journey over the past decade. The audience will be placed in a bird's-eye view, akin to a drone's perspective, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the vibrant and dynamic world of art."
